The aim of this website is to provide understandable advice on low / zero carbon landscapes to design professionals and their clients. We should have the knowledge and ability to communicate a positive future for a planet we all want to live in.
BACKGROUND:
What will it take for landscape architects to lead the way in the construction industry in addressing the necessary challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation?
The ‘about’ blurb on every landscape and architectural practices of the last 10 years have featured the word sustainability front and centre. This evidently hasn’t led to many truly sustainable schemes and in fact has contributed significantly towards a future less appealing, with higher emissions and negative climate change impacts.
To change this, I have developed this site to enhance my own knowledge and share that amongst the industry collaboratively and positively. The aim is to remove the jargon and complexity (if possible!) of the problems and the solutions.
There are two key tasks above everything else which matter:
This blog will explore how to do this as landscape architects and designers.
We will go deep into the embodied carbon of projects, material specifications, changing current construction practices, and providing a guide for landscape architects, architects and designers to use to help guide clients in the right direction.
We are uniquely placed as the people with the skill sets to manage different opinions, push agendas and wear different hats to understand different points of view.
